Caring for a loved one is a serious commitment of time and energy, and sometimes family caregivers become so busy caring for their loved ones that they don’t have time to take care of themselves. If you are a caregiver, our respite care services can provide you with some time to look after your own health and well-being so you can be the best caregiver possible and enjoy your own life as well.
Our in-home respite care provides a much-needed break for caregivers so they can have the time they need to run errands, attend to business or family matters, take a vacation, go to appointments, exercise, or enjoy quiet time for rest and self-care.
Respite care services may include:
● Skilled nursing care
● Pediatric care services
● Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and toileting
● Meal preparation and assistance with eating
● Medication reminders
● Household duties, such as grocery shopping, running errands, laundry, and light housekeeping
● Companionship through engaging in conversation, social activities, and hobbies
● Transportation to appointments
● Ambulation or mobility assistance
The Texas Lifespan Respite Care Program
The Texas Lifespan Respite Care Program, which is available through the Take Time Texas Initiative, provides vouchers to pay for short-term respite care services to family caregivers so they can take a break from providing care, and rest and recharge before continuing in their caregiver roles. The program also provides online information, resources, and training for caregivers.
Payment Options
Depending on your specific situation and eligibility, there are several ways that you may be able to pay for respite care. These include private pay, long-term care insurance, Veterans’ benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, and Workers’ compensation, in addition to the Texas Lifespan Respite Care Program, which is available through the Take Time Texas Initiative.
